Aon Improves Efficiencies Using Vasion Print

Vasion Team

Aon is a global company that helps businesses manage risk. They provide their clients with varying risk, retirement, and health solutions. Aon is based in London, United Kingdom, and has 66,000+ employees in 120 countries.

The Challenges Aon Faced

Aon acquired a company and prior to the merger needed to provide more effective ways to share documents. They decided to overhaul their print environment and implement an affordable, web-based printer solution that would be simple for back- and front-end users and efficient to deploy.

Challenge 1

Stabilize disparate server environments (including a mix of unmanaged direct IP printing, Window’s shared printing, and old Novell queues) across 40 Aon Canada offices.

Challenge 2

Standardize cross-organizational printing environments and functions for new and current employees, as well as the Vasion support team, across all Aon offices globally.

Challenge 3

Migrate over 24,000 global employees across 100 offices from Novell iPrint to Microsoft Active Directory.

Challenge 4

Find a flexible solution that offers a single interface and allows EMEA users to print using different printer hardware in the same office.

Vasion’s Solutions to Aon’s Problems

Solution 1

Aon implemented Vasion Print’s centrally managed, direct IP printing solution. Within nine months, Aon standardized Canada’s printing environment (across 40 offices) by implementing Aon Global Printers (AGP) with Vasion Print. This intuitive, self-service model eliminated the need to manually add printers which decreased support calls.

Solution 2

Aon used AGP with Vasion Print to enable cross-organizational printing. This allowed users to print using any device regardless of domains and trusts. AGP quickly became the print driver management and delivery standard for more than 200 offices and over 4,000 printer objects company-wide.

Solution 3

Aon used AGP with Vasion Print to successfully convert these colleagues to the new printing environment.

Solution 4

Aon used AGP with Vasion Print to install drivers needed for complex and secure printing across EMEA. In cases where native print drivers were required for secure printing functionality, AGP was also able to install those drivers with the same interface.

Solution 5

Aon’s Vasion Print instance lives on a SaaS solution that's also integrated with 60+ AWS technologies such as VPC, EC2, and S3. The powerful partnership between Vasion and AWS has streamlined Aon's print consolidation, management, and compliance risks, freeing their administrative team to concentrate on challenges elsewhere in their IT environment.

Aon’s Results

By implementing AGP with Vasion Print, Aon improved the printing capabilities and features for many employees, enhancing their overall experience while creating cost savings for the firm by reducing server hardware and helpdesk calls.

Key Takeaways:

  • Converted 24,000 users across 100 offices from Novell Print Queues
to a centrally managed direct IP printing environment.
